STEAM

STEAM is an educational approach to learning that uses Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts and Mathematics as access points for guiding student inquiry, dialogue, and critical thinking.  The end results are students who take thoughtful risks, engage in experiential learning, persist in problem-solving, embrace collaboration, and work through the creative process.  these are the innovators, educators, leaders and learners of the 21st century.

A STEAM Early Education Center will be the be beginning point for students to access high quality STEAM learning opportunities, utilizing he Preschool Framework, 21st Century Skills and Project Base Learning, students will be engaged in real world experiences to enhance and challenge their thinking.  Through project-based, inquiry driven activities, children can explore and discover the world around them while learning literacy, problem solving skills, and collaboration techniques.  Students will construct their  own learning using critical thinking, creativity and innovation.  "Young children are born learners.  Although individual differences are present at birth, most set out to explore their world with unbridled eagerness and curiosity.  Perhaps more then any other time in life, early childhood is a period of never ending possibilities."  (Copple & Bredekamp, 2008)
