Sal Sandoval

Dear Castelar STEAM Early Education Center Families,

I am honored to be able to take this opportunity to introduce myself. My name is Sal Sandoval, and starting July 1, 2020, I have the privilege of being the new principal of Castelar Early Education Center (Castelar EEC). Together with our great Castelar EEC staff, we will continue meeting and transcending the intellectual, physical, and social/emotional needs of your children.

As a parent of four children who attend schools within Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD), I understand the importance of building a strong foundation early for our students, both academically and individually, so that they may become responsible citizens with the necessary skills to tackle the many challenges life has.

Over the past 25 years, I have worked as a teacher assistant, teacher, instructional coach and for the last 14 years, I have had the honor of being the school coordinator and assistant principal at Castelar Elementary. In my professional experience I have worked with a widespread range of students within general education, gifted & talented, English learners, and special education. Working with these populations I have learned how to teach young, brilliant minds and foster an environment where students of all backgrounds, starting points, and capabilities can succeed.

As an early education principal, it is my duty to ensure that all our students are healthy, happy, and safe both inside and outside of the classroom. I realize the education of children is a difficult job, and cannot be accomplished without the involvement of parents and the community. Our greatest initiative will be to continue to work together in these challenging times to optimize the learning experience for each student while simultaneously encouraging new possibilities.

I encourage parents and community members to be active participants in the education of our students. There are many ways to do so. The easiest way is to maintain effective lines of communication between the home and school. We at Castelar EEC welcome ideas and volunteers throughout the year. If you have concerns, praises, or would like to volunteer, please feel free to e-mail me at: [email protected]. I can assure you I will work diligently to continue to provide an excellent educational experience for our students.

In partnership with you,

Salvador Sandoval
